Telangana govt adopts Integrated Hospital Facility Management #IndiaNEWS #News
Hyderabad: To improve overall healthcare services including bed-side care for patients, sanitation and ensure availability of manpower in government healthcare facilities, the Telangana government has decided to adopt Integrated Hospital Facility Management Services (IHFMS) by incurring an expenditure of Rs. 7,500 per hospital bed in a month.
The enhanced allocation of Rs. 7,500 from the earlier Rs. 5,000 for a single hospital bed in a month will be implemented across all the government healthcare facilities including hospitals, nursing colleges, nursing schools and hostels, according to orders (GO Ms 32) issued on Saturday.
The policy of providing manpower of 1 person for 7000 sft built-up area and 1 person per 27,000 square feet for open area, currently applicable in all the medical colleges is extended to all nursing colleges, nursing schools and hostels.
Decentralising decisions related to sanitation and maintenance of healthcare services, government hospitals with more than 200 beds are allowed to directly go for tenders while those with less than 200 beds will be clubbed while calling for tenders.
Earlier, the Telangana State Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TSMSIDC) used to call tenders to identify agencies that will take up works related to sanitation and maintenance in government hospitals. From now on, the tenders will be called at the district level under a committee, which will be headed by the Collector. Instead of TSMSIDC, the District Health Society will enter into MoU with the IHFMS agencies.
The State government will monitor the performance of the staff, who are directly responsible in bed-side care, sanitation and other duties meant to keep the institutions neat and clean. The District Health Societies, which will be led by the Collector, will directly monitor the performance of agencies before releasing payments and agencies found to be non-compliant could face automatic termination and their security amount will not be released by the authorities.

4. IHFMS will be implemented in all Government hospitals, nursing schools, colleges and hostels
5. Hospitals with more than 200 beds can go for direct tenders
6. Facilities with less than 200 beds to be clubbed and tenders will be combined
7. Strict monitoring of the implementing agencies to be taken-up locally
