WPI inflation eases to 12.07 pc in June as food, crude prices soften New Delhi, Jul 14 (KNN) The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) of India remained low from last months record high as it rose 12.07 per cent in June 2021 due to low base effect and rise in prices of mineral oils viz. petrol, diesel (HSD), naphtha, ATF, furnace oil etc, and manufactured products like basic metal, food products, chemical products etc.

The WPI contracted by 1.8 per cent in June 2020 in the light of pandemic & lockdown restrictions.

The index has softened from previous months high of 12.94 per cent but is still elevated due to a low base recorded last year.

Segment of Fuel and Power rose by 32.83 per cent whereas that of Manufactured Products and Primary articles surged by 10.88 per cent and 7.74 per cent respectively.

WPI Food Index decreased to 6.6 per cent in June from 8.11 per cent recorded in May, 2021.

Primary articles, prices of onions accelerated by 64.32 per cent and that of crude petroleum jumped up by 62.63 per cent driving the index up.
