Tamilisai performs seemantham of tribal pregnant women at Bhadrachalam #IndiaNEWS #Bhadradri Kothagudem
Kothagudem: All the Indian traditions and festivals have a good reason behind them and needs to be followed, suggested Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan. She attended pregnant womens seemantham ceremony organised by Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram at Bhadrachalam in the district on Monday and greeted the would-be mothers.
Speaking on the occasion the Governor noted that the traditional seemantham ceremony has a great link to science. The ceremony prepares a pregnant woman towards the responsibility of motherhood. Seemantham tradition has been continuing for generation after generation. Seemantham ceremony also reminds a woman the need to consume fruits and other immunity-boosting foods. Only a healthy pregnant woman would give birth to healthy child, Soundararajan said asking the women to take a balanced diet with all nutrients.
She also told them to take all the necessary vaccines and injections during the pregnancy and after the delivery of the child as well. For the pregnant women their family members need to extend all possible support. The Governor wanted the pregnant women in the gathering to deliver the child in hospitals under the medical supervision of doctors and told them that she would come to the place once again to see the children. She appreciated Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram for organising the programme.
Later in the day Soundararajan handover an ambulance to the IRCS Kothagudem district branch and laid the foundation stone for the construction of thalassemia and sickle cell anemia ward at Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) blood bank building at Bhadrachalam. She also handed over a cash cheque of Rs 20 lakh towards the construction of the ward and presented new spectacles to the needy women. She lauded the IRCS district branch efforts in conducting screening tests to identify thalassemia and sickle cell anaemia among tribal people and children. IRCS National Managing Committee member Dr. P Vijaya Chander Reddy, State Managing Committee member EV Srinivasa Rao and others were present.
