MSDE, MHI collaborate to facilitate skill development in capital goods sector New Delhi, June 30 (KNN) To build an ecosystem for imparting skill development in the countrys capital goods sector, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has signed a pact with the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) on Wednesday.

The collaboration will help provide training to several engineering trades through Qualification Packs (QPs) developed by MHI related sector skill councils, under the scheme for enhancement of competitiveness in the capital goods sector phase II," an official statement said.

The heavy industries ministry will provide 100 per cent funding support to sector skill councils under its domain for the development of new industry-led national skills qualifications framework Level 6 and above Qualification Packs.

To meet the future industrial requirements for the promotion of skilling in the capital goods sector through the creation of Qualification Packs for Level 6 and above, new components will be introduced in the training.

Speaking about the collaboration, Mahendra Nath Pandey, Heavy industries minister said, “heavy manufacturing industry is one of the most important sectors in terms of employment generation, exports, and value addition to the economy.”

“This initiative will produce skilled manpower that will be able to cater to industries in various sectors such as defence, aerospace, power, automotive and capital goods amongst others, “he added.

Minister of skill development and entrepreneurship and education, Dharmendra Pradhan said, the growth in the manufacturing sector will create more demand for a skilled workforce and the agreement will pave the way for creating a more skilled vibrant workforce for the sector.

The agreement will help bridge the gap between the industry associations and sector skill councils, therefore helping in imparting skills to more than 70,000 individuals over a period of three years.  (KNN Bureau)
