Fugitive businessman Nirav Modi on Wednesday told a London court that he faced risk of dying by suicide due to mental illness if transferred to the Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai following his extradition to India. He also cited risks of being infected by Covid-19 in the prison, PTI reported.Modi, accused of duping the Punjab National Bank of more than Rs 13,000 crore, had lost his appeal against extradition to India in a United Kingdom High Court last month. In February, the Westminster Magistrates’ Court in the UK had ordered that the fugitive diamond merchant can be extradited to India to face trial.
