India’s agri, processed food exports rise by 14% in Q1FY23 New Delhi, July 18 (KNN) India’s exports of agricultural and processed food products is up by 14 per cent to USD 5987 Million in the first three months of current FY 2022-23 as compared to USD 5256 million in the corresponding period of FY 2021-22, as per the data released by the Directorate General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S).
For the current fiscal year, the overall export target for the agricultural and processed food products basket under APEDA has been set to USD 23.56 billion. 25.4 percent of the total target has been achieved in first three months.
The exports of fresh fruits & vegetables registered 8.6 percent growth, while processed food products like cereals and miscellaneous processed items marked an impressive growth of 36.4 percent as oppose to corresponding months of previous year.
Rice exports have witnessed a significant growth of 13 percent in the first three months, recording USD 2723 million.
The export of meat, dairy & poultry products rose up by 9.5 percent and export of other cereals increased by 29 percent.
M. Angamuthu, Chairperson, APEDA said that the government is focused on providing a necessary eco-system of exports along with collaboration with key stakeholders in the agri-exports value to sustain growth.
Various initiatives taken by the government such as organising B2B exhibitions in different countries, exploring new potential markets through product-specific and general marketing campaigns by the active involvement of Indian Embassies have played an important role in the increased exports.
