Heavy rains in Medak, three killed, local holiday declared by Collector #IndiaNEWS #Medak
Medak: Normal life came to a standstill in Medak district as heavy rains lashed the district. Three persons died, several persons were injured a few cattle were swept away in the floods. The Medak town witnessed unprecedented floods on Saturday. The Auto Nagar, Sai Nagar, and a few other colonies witnessed heavy floods. The rainwater entered houses in several low-lying areas in the town.
Several roads including the Hyderabad-Bodhan Road and Hyderabad-Kamareddy road were cut off for transportation as the water started overflowing over the roads.
After seeing the intensity of the floods, Collector Medak S Harish declared a local holiday for the district. All the streams such as river Manjeera, Haldivagu, Pasupuleru, Gangamma Vagu, and other streams were in full spate due to unprecedented rains. The Medak MLA M Padmadevendar Reddy went around Medak town on JCB. Additional Collector Prathima Singh also examined several low-lying areas.
According to Chegunta Police, two migrant workers from Bihar died Rayben Yadav (50) and Vikari Yadav (45) when a wall of industry collapsed at Reddypally village in Chegunta mandal in the early hours of Saturday. Two other workers Dinesh Das and Goutam Yadam Yadav have sustained serious injuries in the wall collapse.

Another man, who was pillion riding a bike, died when the bike was hit by a flooding road at Vallabhapur in Narsingin mandal. The victim was Thoka Sailu (19) of Navipet mandal in the Nizamabad district.
The district has received an average rainfall of 167.6 MM during the past 24 hours at 8.30 am on Saturday. All the 21 mandals have received over 100 MM rainfall while Chegunta 234.6 MM and Medak 231.7 MM mandals received the highest rain in the district.
According to agriculture officials, the paddy nurseries on 2,290 acres, cotton crops on 382 acres, Maize on 59 acres, and other crops on 12 acres were damaged due to the heavy rains.
