Warangal: A youth was stabbed to death during a clash at Ursu gutta junction in the city on Saturday night. Two others sustained injuries in the same incident, and the condition of one of them is said to be critical.
The deceased was identified as Vanam Rakesh (26) of SRR Thota in the city. He was working as a physical education teacher (PET) in a corporate school near Madikonda.
The incident reportedly happened when a group of youth came to the Mahalakshmi Bakery and started smoking cigarettes. They entered into a verbal duel when the bakery owner Marupalli Nikhil asked them to smoke the cigarettes away from the shop.
But the group of youths, who were said to be in an inebriated condition, attacked Nikhil, his friends Rakesh and Shiva with knives.
While Rakesh died on the spot due to bleeding injuries, Nikhil and Kanthula Shiva were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Mills Colony police have registered a murder case against the suspects Patti Rajesh, his friends Bunty and Yogi based on a complaint lodged by Vanam Karthik, brother of Rakesh, and are investigating the case.
