Telanganas new Secretariat complex to be named after Ambedkar #IndiaNEWS #News
Hyderabad: Setting an example for others, the Telangana government has decided to name the new integrated State Secretariat complex after the Father of the Indian Constitution, Dr BR Ambedkar. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday took the decision to this effect and directed the officials to take steps accordingly.
The decision evoked massive positive response with people from various quarters hailing the TRS government. This, in turn, kept the BJP in a tight corner with the TRS government demanding the Centre to name the new Parliament building after Dr BR Ambedkar. Accordingly, the State Assembly has already passed an resolution, wherein none of the BJP MLAs were present. The studied silence of the BJP on the demand, has effectively put the party in a Catch-22 situation.
In a release, the Chief Minister said it was a matter of pride for the people of Telangana to name the Secretariat after social activist and philosopher Dr Ambedkar. He said it was a model to emulate by the rest of country. Dr Ambedkar dreamt of unity in diversity and equality for all. The Telangana government is driven by his philosophy on ensuring equal rights for all sections in all the fields, he said.
Chandrashekhar Rao recalled that the Telangana State became a reality due to the provisions incorporated in the Article 3 of the Constitution by Dr Ambedkar. The State registered a phenomenal growth and providing equal opportunities for all sections of the society in social, political, economic and cultural fields in accordance with the principles of Ambedkar, he said.
The true Indianness is that the people of India are respected equally without discrimination of caste, creed, gender and region and equal opportunities are provided to all. Our efforts will continue in this direction, he added.
The Chief Minister also said he would personally be writing a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on naming the new Parliament building after Dr Ambedkar. I am once again demanding the Central government to consider the demand of the Telangana government and name the newly constructed Indian Parliament building after Dr BR Ambedkar, he said.
The construction of the new integrated Secretariat complex has been progressing at a hectic pace with the target of getting it ready by the upcoming Dasara festival. Works have been taken up paralelly on all floors, apart from taking up beautification works.
The seven-storey Secretariat building with a built-up area of seven lakh square feet is being built at a cost of Rs 650 crore. According to official sources, about 90 per cent of the work has already been finished, and the remaining 10 per cent will be completed by Dasara.
