Shrinivas Dempo, chairman of the Dempo Group of Companies, has been appointed president of the All-India Management Association (AIMA).



Associated with various industry bodies, Dempo was earlier chairman of the western region of the Confederation of Indian Industry. He was also vice-president of the Goa Chamber of Commerceand Industry.



Dempo is a member of the executive council of Goa University and is associated with several non-governmental organisations, including the Charles Correa Foundation and the Goa Cancer Society. The Dempo group of companies has diversified interests in industries like calcined petroleum coke, shipbuilding, food processing, real estate and the media.



Dempo succeeds C.K. Ranganathan, chairman and managing director of CavinKare, as the president of AIMA. Other appointments at AIMA include Nihkil Sawhney as senior vice-president and Suneeta Reddy as vice-president. Sawhney is the vice-chairman and managing director of Triveni Turbines while Reddy is the managing director of the ApolloHospitals group.
