Hyderabad: At least four persons were picked up by the police for questioning from different parts of the city on Saturday night in connection with an alleged terror plot.
Among those detained by the police in the late night operation is one Zahed of Moosarambagh, who was previously acquitted in Begumpet Task Force office blast. Zahed’s brother Shahid Bilal was allegedly involved in terror cases in city and was reportedly shot dead in Pakistan.
Sources said the Hyderabad police, counter intelligence teams and armed reserve platoons participated in the raids in various localities in the east and south zones. At least four persons were picked up for questioning.
A case is registered against Zahed for conspiring to attack a few leaders of a political party and the police nabbed him in connection with it.
In the First Information Report filed at Hyderabad Central Crime Station under Section 18, 18(B), 20 of Unlawful Activities Act 1967 , the police alleged that Zahed (39) of Malakpet who was previously accused in several terror related cases in Hyderabad had recruited several youth including Maaz, Samullah, Adil Afroz, Abdul Hai, Sohail Qureshi, Abdul Kaleem alias Haddi and others on direction of Pakistan handlers who belong to LeT/ISI.
As per the instructions of the Pakistan handlers, he allegedly conspired with his gang members to cause terror acts including blasts and lone wolf attacks in Hyderabad to create terror among the minds of common public.
The FIR further stated, Zahed received hand grenades from his Pakistan based handlers and planned to use them either on RSS or BJP meetings, procession or festival gatherings. Further, it has come to know that he had received money from terror organizations to carry out the said terror activities, it alleged.
