With drone usage expected to increase in the future, Lynx Lawrence & Mayo, on Thursday, said that it is planning to start a full-fledged drone training academy in the state.
The academy will be DGCA certified. Lynx Lawrence and Mayo, director marketing, Dr Vivek Mendonsa, said that the academy will benefit Goan youth, who can think of job opportunities abroad and within India. “The training will be an impetus for the infrastructure and construction industries,� he added.
The company has partnered with Ahluwalia Pilot Training Institute (APTI), to run the drone academy.
APTI proprietor Captain Paramjit Singh Ahluwalia disclosed that the academy will offer both short-term and long-term courses that will benefit the drone sector as well as youth of the country in terms of job opportunities.
“India can become the drone capital of the world,� said Ahluwalia.
The press briefing was attended by Lynx Lawrence and Mayo’s Goa manager Stephan Ferrao and Captain Sheryl D’Cunha, chief flying instructor of LYNX Drone Academy.
Captain D’Cunha pointed out that customised drones are presently being used for numerous applications in the industrial and commercial sectors.
Lynx-Lawrence & Mayo is the geomatic engineering and instrumentation arm of the Lawrence and Mayo, a brand that is over 145 years old.
The company’s operations are in land surveying instrumentation, material testing, non-destructive testing, agriculture and weather monitoring equipment, etc.
