Telangana: Maoists kill man for being ‘police informer’ in Mulugu #IndiaNEWS #Mulugu
Mulugu: A Koya Adivasi, Sabbuka Gopal, 47, was hacked to death, allegedly by a five-member team of the outlawed CPI Maoists at Kondapur village of Venkatapuram (Nugur) mandal in the district on the border of Telangana and Chhattisgarh States on Wednesday night branding him as a police informer.
In a letter purportedly left by the Venkatapuram-Wazeedu Area Committee of the Maoists at the spot, it was claimed that they killed Gopal for being a police informer, and also warned that if anyone else worked for the police, they would meet a similar fate.
Sources said Gopal had tried to escape after seeing five people moving near his house suspiciously. But he was caught by them and taken to the village outskirts and hacked with knives and axes. They raised slogans of ‘Lal Salaam after confirming his death and left the place. It is suspected that the Maoists had come from the neighbouring Chhattisgarh State as the village was close to Chhattisgarh.
The incident has caused a flutter in the otherwise peaceful village in the Agency area. The police of Mulugu, Bhupalpally and Bhadradri-Kothagudem that share a border with the strife-torn Chhattisgarh State were making efforts to nab the Maoists. It is said that the Maoists killed Gopal just to make their presence felt in the region.
Venkatapuram Circle-Inspector K Shiva Prasad said a case was registered and was being investigated.
