Hyderabad: The month-long exhibition titled Where Did The Horses Go is a contemporary representation of the beautiful creatures.
Kalakriti Art Gallery presents Where Did the Horses Go, showcasing artwork celebrating contemporary representations of the majestic horse in Indian visual imagination.
The exhibition features 47 artworks by 15 renowned artists across India like Avijit Dutta, Diptish Ghosh Dastidar, George Martin PJ, GR Iranna, Jatin Das, Muzaffar Ali, Ravi Thakur Collection, Renuka Sondhi Gulati, Seema Kohli, Shyamal Dutta, Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya, Subrata Gangopadhyay, Sujith SN, Sunil Das, Unnati Singh, and Vasundhara Tewari Broota.
The exhibition was formally inaugurated at Kalakriti Art Gallery new building in Banjara Hills and it will be open for view till October 23.
On this occasion, Dr Kallol Ray, curator of the exhibition, said that celebrated in works of art throughout the world since ancient times, horses still make us look at them in awe. One of the perennial symbols of vitality and strength, many artists and writers from different cultural backgrounds have been drawn to horses.
The exhibition intends to bring up this singular motif of horses that would help us to have a renewed vision of them. This is, perhaps, not so much on the lines of a quiet and extended meditation, as it seeks to do more since the artist would be invited literally to do all kinds of horses. By all kinds of horses, we mean horses of the world and the horses of imagination and dreams and perhaps of the netherworld, Ray added.
Rekha Lahoti, Abhinav Bansal, Geet Gupta, Kishore Samtani, art collector, Ananya Simlai, besides various artists and art enthusiasts graced the occasion.
