A7 camera series to discontinue due to chip shortages, says Sony #IndiaNEWS #Gadget
Today, the Japanese multinational conglomerate corporation, Sony, has officially announced the discontinuation of A7 cameras series due to a shortage of semiconductor chips.

The Japanese tech giant shared the information via its official website earlier this morning, November 25th that due to the global shortage of semiconductor chips, the procurement of parts and components has been delayed.

According to the company, given the new development, as of November 19, a total of 4 cameras and 1 microphone will be suspended from accepting orders. The following is a list of items that will be phased out: Sony A7 II series, Sony A6400 series, Sony A6100 Black Edition, PXW-Z190 professional camera, and ECM-B1M Shotgun Microphone.

Reports from foreign media estimate that resuming production after this closure will be extremely unlikely, because these items have been on the market for a long time, for instance, the A6100 micro-single was released six years ago. Due to chip shortages, Canon EOS R3 and Nikon Z 9 cameras will also be delayed in shipment in the near future. The latest Sony A7 IV camera is also in short supply.

Sony has, however, apologized for any inconvenience this has caused the customers. As chip shortages keep persisting it is believed that camera manufacturers would have to raise their prices in order for people to buy them.
