Hyderabad: 29 more corridors to get link roads #IndiaNEWS #Hyderabad
Hyderabad: The State government is improving connectivity on a mission mode in high-density traffic areas in the IT Corridor. While the development of link roads under the Missing Links Projects – Phase 1 and 2 is under way, the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL) has identified 29 new corridors. Missing links in the 29 corridors will be developed at a cost of Rs 491.49 crore under the Missing Links Projects Phase 3.
Under the third phase, a 6.5 km link road from Chandanagar Railway station to Venkateshwara Nagar Layout  (South) which includes the Chandanagar Railway Station to Vishali Nagar North link road, 1.6 km link road from Road Number 45 Jubliee Hills to Durgam Cheruvu and 1.5 km link road from Ameenpur Village to HMT Colony in Miyapur have been identified.
Meanwhile, works taken up in the first two phases are underway at a brisk pace. As per HRDCL records, under Missing Links Projects (Phase 2) development of 13 link roads is underway at an estimated cost of Rs 298.56 crore. Currently, the 0.75 km Alkapuri Township- Radial Road 5 Narsingi stretch, 1.75 km Dollar Hills- Neknampur stretch and 3.89 km ORR Lanco Hills stretch are being developed in Phase 2. Meanwhile, five roads are in the tenders stage and preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is under progress for five roads.
Similarly, 37 stretches covering 44.7 km were taken up in Phase 1, at an estimated cost of Rs 313.65 cr, of which 16 works have been completed. These 16 link roads are already yielding results. The commuting time has drastically dipped after these facilities were made available to people. These roads are acting as alternate routes and are being used by scores of people, decongesting traffic on the main roads. Road No 45 to old Mumbai highway (Leather Park), old Mumbai highway via ESCI-Delhi Public School at Khajaguda and link road between Miyapur and Nizampet are examples.
The State government, after reviewing with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and HRDCL officials, has finalised 135 links summing up to 126.20 km. They are being developed phase-wise. These road links are termed as link roads because they are intended to provide the missing connections and decongest traffic on main roads.
